Wire-bound, also known as spiral-bound services, for creating information-filled booklets like annual reports, manuals and portfolios. The durable wire coil used to bind your booklet together not only allows your clients and employees to easily flip through your brochure, but the 360-degree flexibility means your wire-bound brochure can be easily left open to lie flat on a surface without resistance – and who knows, maybe an open wire-bound booklet will catch the eye of another passing customer!
You can order printed spiral-bound booklets in landscape (long edge) and portrait (short edge) in a range of sizes A4, A5, 210mm Square, 148mm Square and also in custom sizes. Frequently Asked Questions about Wirebound Books.
Spiral-Bound Book vs Wire-Bound Book: What’s the difference?
Yes, there is a difference between spiral-bound booklets and wire-bound booklets, and although the difference is subtle, it’s important. Spiral fixes pages together using a single plastic coil that is inserted into the holes along the edge of the paper. Wire, or wiro binding as it is sometimes called, instead uses several wired metal loops (metal wire) that are threaded through small holes punched in the paper stock on the edge of the book.
Compared to spiral binding, using metal wire spines looks significantly more professional and also allows for easier opening and closing of your printed wire brochure. If you prefer a sleek, professional finish without spiral or wire binding, consider our Softcover Perfect Bound Books, which provide a smooth spine and durable binding for longer documents.
What can Wire-Bound Book printing be used for?
Wiro-bound booklets and brochures can be used for several different practices. You can adorn the front and back cover with your branding and use the inside like a notepad, allowing you to showcase your branding as you travel from meetings to the client’s premises. Alternatively, wire-binding books can be filled with important information such as a comprehensive list of your products and services, health and safety guidelines, instructions, financial reports and presentation documents. Other uses for wire-bound brochures include manuals, recipe books and educational material like dissertations and theses. If you’re looking for a compact and cost-effective alternative, our Stapled Brochures provide an excellent option for marketing materials, menus, and event programs.
As they are available with acetate covers, this makes them ideal for documentation that needs to be protected in day-to-day use, such as driver’s manuals, etc. Acetates do add cost, and we would not advise this on every Wiro-bound booklet, as in some cases it might not be needed. Regardless of whether you need acetates or not, all our print and binding paper stocks are from sustainable FSC paper stocks, like our silk papers and uncoated paper types.
What are some of the Benefits of Wire-Bound Book printing?
360-Page Rotation – One of the main advantages of wire-bound book printing is that, thanks to the durable and flexible wire coil which holds the pages together, you can fold your wire-bound document in a full 360-degree motion. This means they can be opened with ease, and it ensures any important information printed near the spine is not awkwardly obstructed.
Pages Stay Put – Unlike printed booklets that are glued at the spine, wire-o bound books stay open without any resistance. We’ve all been there, pressing hard on the inside of a book to make sure it stays open on the page we need. With wire-bound books, that is never an issue; they will stay open unaided from the get-go. Perfect for when you need to keep your hands free, allowing your printed documents to either lie flat or fold shut for storage.
Low or High Page Counts – Using our full-colour wire brochure printing service at Print Stafford, you don’t have to limit yourself to a set number of pages. Spiral coils come in a variety of diameters, so you can print spiral-bound books with hundreds or tens of pages.
Great Marketing Tool – Lastly, booklets with a wire allow for a fantastic marketing tool for any business. At Print Stafford, we can help you create an eye-catching wire-bound brochure that will immediately attract the attention of customers. Place your brand centre stage and use eye-catching fonts and colours for the best impact. Learn more about crafting a strong brand identity to ensure your wire-bound materials make an unforgettable impression.
How should I design my Wire-Bound documents?
Like with most printed items, you should always have a minimum of 3mm bleed on all edges. With this binding method, we would also advise a 10mm margin of the document on the binding edge, which will ensure a quality book finish. It is this additional margin that allows for punched holes and allows us to thread using wires or coil binding.
