Customer-Supplied AI Artwork (Including AI-Generated Images)

These terms explain how to prepare your artwork for print and outline what to expect when supplying your own files, including AI-generated images.

1. Customer Responsibility for AI Artwork

Customers are responsible for ensuring that any artwork, including AI Artwork supplied for print, is suitable for its intended purpose, including correct size, resolution, colour format, and overall quality.

This includes any supplied AI-generated images, which may appear high quality on screen but may not be suitable for printing, particularly at larger sizes. This includes any AI model, ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot, Gemini and CanvaAI.

2. Print Specifications & Resolution Requirements

For best results, artwork should be supplied at a minimum of 300 DPI at the final print size unless otherwise stated.

Where files do not meet these specifications, print quality may be affected, including:

  • Blurriness or softness
  • Pixelation
  • Loss of detail

Large-format prints (including posters, canvases, and other enlarged products) require significantly higher resolution files. Images that appear clear on screens or at small sizes may not reproduce well when enlarged.

AI-generated images are often created at relatively low resolutions. Where as we recommend a minimum of 300dpi. Enlarging these files may result in:

  • Visible pixelation
  • Loss of fine detail
  • Visual artefacts or distortions becoming more noticeable

Automated upscaling or enlargement does not guarantee improved print quality and may further affect the final result.

3. AI Artwork File Formats & Colour Conversion

AI-generated artwork is commonly supplied as PNG files in RGB colour format. While suitable for digital use, these formats may not be optimised for professional print production.

Commercial printing typically uses CMYK colour profiles. As part of the print process, RGB files will be converted to CMYK, which may result in:

  • Colour shifts (including duller or less vibrant tones)
  • Changes in brightness or contrast
  • Differences between on-screen appearance and printed output

PNG files may also include transparency or flattened backgrounds, which can affect how the image prints depending on the product and material.

4. Reasonable Care by Us

We will take reasonable care when preparing and printing your files. Where a file appears to be significantly below recommended quality standards, we may (but are not obliged to) notify you before proceeding.

However, we do not carry out detailed checks of all files and cannot guarantee that all quality issues will be identified prior to printing.

5. Approval & Proceeding at Customer Risk

By submitting artwork and approving your order, you confirm that you are satisfied with the file quality.

If you choose to proceed with artwork that may be low resolution or otherwise unsuitable for print, this is done at your own risk.

6. Limitations of Liability

We are not responsible for print quality issues that arise due to the quality, resolution, format, or composition of the artwork supplied by the customer, including AI-generated images.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

7. Refunds & Reprints

Where a print issue is caused by the quality of the supplied artwork (rather than a fault in our printing process), we may not be able to offer a refund or reprint.

Each case will be considered in line with our obligations under UK consumer law.

8. Recommendation

For optimal results, we recommend supplying professionally prepared, print-ready artwork. Design services may be available at an additional cost.

By placing an order, you agree to these terms.
